TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has always focused on training its employees with the latest techniques, the best available equipment and to treat everyone as you would want your grandmother to be treated - THE GRANDMA RULE®.

Before a new franchisee can open a location, he or she must go to Lansing, Michigan in the United States and be trained for two weeks by the management and Home Office staff through STICK MEN UNIVERSITY®. Training elements covered include:

  • How to market a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise
     
  • Computer and accounting systems
     
  • Recruitment
     
  • Operational Management

Part of the training takes place in a fabricated two-storey home and moving truck built inside the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® /INTERNATIONAL, Inc. headquarters. During the house training, trainees are taught how to manoeuvre, wrap, pack and load items like a grand piano, a china cabinet filled with breakables, glass tables, a washer and dryer and a big-screen television. There's a bulky bedroom set and a home office. Trainees are expected to be able to recognise any possible obstacles, and empty the house as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Although franchisees won't be moving furniture as part of their daily routine, the objective of this training program is to educate our franchisees to become experts on all aspects of the business. In turn they use this knowledge to manage their business and train their staff on proper packing and moving techniques designed to exceed our customers' expectations. In addition, our Dublin Learning Centre has fabricated an apartment and moving truck to provide additional training for your moving teams.

STICK MEN UNIVERSITY® offers online classes that cover everything from marketing tactics to making accurate estimates throughout the year. The customer is TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®'s No.1 priority. Training classes are regularly being improved to make sure we are providing the best service available.

The Dublin Learning Centre also hosts management and frontline business training courses throughout the year.

  • Never use printed newsprint to wrap fine china.
  • Pack important and sentimental documents separately to be easily accessible including: children's health records, passports, family records, insurance information and photo albums.
  • For large appliances be sure to check your owner's manuals to see if there are special instructions for moving.
  • Always stack dishes upwards when packing.
  • Use only small boxes for books. They get very heavy, very fast.
  • Remember: the heavier the item, the smaller the box.
  • Don't pack with food or supermarket boxes. You never know what little critter is hiding - or if the box will be strong enough to support your possessions.
  • Make your reservations for movers two to four weeks before your move day.
  • Avoid mixing items from different rooms in the same box.
  • Use wardrobe boxes to make closets easier to pack. Clothes in drawers can be placed in suitcases.
